group sms texting...please help...pretty please?

I cannot figure out how to respond to a group sms text without replying to everyone in the group. I can't find a way to just respond to the original sender. Is there a way to do this? Yeah...I'm dumb...

I'm not sure if you can do that? Are you not able to manually remove the recipients once you hit reply? I haven't used it so I'm not sure. Only other thing would be to toggle the group SMS off when you reply. If this is the case, I think Apple designed it much like email when there are a bunch of recipients and it's bad email etiquette to not reply to all. Not 100% sure though.
