    Just plugged in my iPhone @2:35p EST...

    iTunes prompted me to install 4.2.6

    Earlier today 9:30a there was no update when originally activated.

    it was there, it just didn't prompt the first time for the activation. I got mine a few minutes after you did and I saw it in iTunes.

    Mine shipped with 4.2.6. I did not download the update or anything. Just activated the phone and it's 4.2.6. It's not particularly strange since all the devices weren't shipped out the same time.

    That and your device might have been manufactured later. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the pre-oreders were 4.2.5. Apple is pretty good about shipping their devices with the latest software, though some JB'ers don't like that.
