I can't see why that would be? But the folks at Apple have told me the same. The 32GB is $749, and the 16GB is $649. The phone is supposed to be the exact same.

I wonder if:

A. The CDMA antenna costs more to manufacture?

Or

B. That Verizon is trying to get another $50 than AT&T because of the subsidy that they have to pay Apple for the iPhone?

Its not Verizon. Its Apple. The CDMA chip costs more then GSM. Besides, Apple sets the prices, not Verizon.

but $50 is nothing compared to the amount you spend on coffee or apps each year.

I certainly hope your right! I myself will be sticking with AT&T. I am very happy with them, their service and their coverage in my area.
