Recieved a text from AT&T to update iOS?

I just received the following text from AT&T;

An important software update is available for your iPhone. To update to iOS 4.2, connect to iTunes and follow the instructions.

Has anyone else received the text? Any reason ad to why AT&T would send the notification?

Weird, I haven't received it nor have I heard of people getting iOS related texts about updating.

According to iphone_dev on twitter, who knows jailbreaking - its a trap from AT&T to update the firmware - (particularly ultrasn0w unlockers) ..

I figured it might have something to do with my phone being JB'n; however it's not unlocked. Still pretty weird.

Yeah its odd that some never received one, yet others have had several.

I wonder if it only happens to jailbroken phones. Perhaps there is somekind of tracking system that dectects you are jailbroken and they assume people who jauilbroke willbe clueless and update

I am jailbroken, so I dont think it has anything to do with that, unless this is something brand new.

I got the same thing today as well, I was like WTF ? I got it at 2:39 EST ...
