4.2 Feature?

I recieved an email the other day and it mentioned something about "having dinner tonight". however tonight was underlined with the blue hyperlink and allowed me to create an event for that day. I also recieved another email with a date in it and if you click on that date it creates a new event. Just curious if this was a new feature in 4.2 or has it been here and I have noticed it.

Agree'd .. You never noticed it. Data detectors have been there for a while.

That particular detector has been there since 4.0. It's AWESOME.

Its just like if you tap on a number, and you can call that number with out needing to type it out or write it down.

Just and FYI but if you have a Mac you can do the same thing on your Mac, add MobileMe and whichever platform you use (iPhone or Mac) and they will sync the event to the other.
