Nah, I'll wait for 4.1. There is no immediate danger not having this patch. Where are the exploits in the wild? Is anything beyond jailbreakme.com using this security hole?
This is to fix the very dangerous PDF exploit. As you can see from the jailbreakme.com site, all you have to do is click on wrong link or open up one bad PDF in an email to have your phone totally hacked.
If you aren't jailbreaking, I would urge you to install this update as soon as possible.
Is there a list iof issues somewhere that it is supposed to fix? I'm assuming that it's just the security patch. If that's the case, I'll be more than happy to download it! Every since the jailbreaking started with that web site, I've been afraid that some malicious attacker would figure out a way to use it on other sites. I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Yep, found it. Here's the info from Apple's site. I will definitely update when I get home. Guess we have to wait for 4.1 to get the proximity sensor fixed. I want GameCenter, too! Hope that will come with 4.1! Here's the link to the info: About the security content of the iOS 4.0.2 Update for iPhone and iPod touch
Since I am using my 3G temporarily until I can fix my iPhone 4....
I updated my 3G to 4.0.2 and it seems to be running better than on 4.0.1. It could be all in my head, but it seems to be a slight bit snappier

I doubt anything malicious will come out of this exploit. Anyone smart enough to jailbreak has already installed the PDF warner (and I believe it is currently being developed into a full fix). Anyone not JB will accept the 4.0.2 update, nullifying the exploit. The only really vulnerable population are iphone 2G users who are no longer eligible for 4.x updates, and that is definitely a shrinking population.
hmmm, well.. are you getting the 3-5 sec pause after you try to go into your sms app? or apps crashing? or how about the delays when you type?
No crashes, but since using it more I have seen some slowdown in typing. SMS delay is still there, but switching to Safari and the settings screen was faster. So probably no improvements and just me being out of it
