Count me among those who think Sprint-style WiMax ought better be classified as something other than 4G especially considering HSPA is already at 7.2 Mbps and HSPA+ is at 21 Mbps. That's 3G.
Here's my Rogers HSPA 7.2 result from this morning. It's around what folks are getting on Evo 4G.
6270 Kbps up, 3543 down.
So do we even need WiMax or are we better off waiting for true LTE 4G at 50+ Mbps?
I'm in Montreal. I'm going to try to post the history report soon. This is nuts, it's just as fast as my cable internet.
Ummm, ok I'm such an *****. Of course it's close to my internet speeds, I'm on wifi! cancel last. I usually never use my wifi that's why I thought it was 3G.
I'm getting a consistent 1.5-2.5 Mbps (1500-2500 kbps) here in South Alabama you can see the pics on my twitter feed...can't post here .. twitter.com/jbyrdman
4g is in its infancies still as well and definitely has a lot to offer, considering your speeds are above average, especially from the users here in the States. As usual, I think its all relative to your location and signal strength. Either way choice is good for the consumer as it drives competition which the consumer can only benefit from.
Someone help a dummy. Yesterday I was testing MyWi using my iPhone 4 as router and Mac. 3G speed was 100-250kbps. Comcast through a linksys wireless with Mac was 300-450kbps.
Shouldn't both be much higher? I'm in Nashville not that it should matter.
I know but you can easily do the test on WiFi and switch back to 3G by multitasking so it shows 3G in the taskbar. Not saying he'd go through the trouble just to fake stats but you never know. I've seen people do odder things than that.
Finally fixed the upload speeds here in the DC area, just on 7/25 they were still topping out at 100kbps . Downloads going fastest ever today with my iPhone 4.

unless I am forgetting, but the speedtest.net app in which he used isn't able to have a saved state status or "multitasking", everytime I switch back to it it always restarts for a retest and the old results aren't displayed....again i could be forgetting
