With iPhone 4 3G speeds like this, does anyone need WiMax 4G?

Count me among those who think Sprint-style WiMax ought better be classified as something other than 4G especially considering HSPA is already at 7.2 Mbps and HSPA+ is at 21 Mbps. That's 3G.

Here's my Rogers HSPA 7.2 result from this morning. It's around what folks are getting on Evo 4G.

6270 Kbps up, 3543 down.

So do we even need WiMax or are we better off waiting for true LTE 4G at 50+ Mbps?

What the hell! Those must be Canada speeds because I have never heard of anyone getting results that high in the states.

The best I can get is half of that on 3G. I don't think I can even approach that on WiFi!

I just took this speed test. Jeez, maybe I don't need cable Internet anymore. ;)

Ok I tried posting the image but I'm too much of a noob on your forums. Basically here are the stats:

Download : 12330 Kbps
Upload: 1016 Kbps

I tried a few times and I'm getting downloads averaging around 10000+. Rene, you can back me up on this since I tweeter you my image.

I'm in Montreal. I'm going to try to post the history report soon. This is nuts, it's just as fast as my cable internet.

Ummm, ok I'm such an idiot. Of course it's close to my internet speeds, I'm on wifi! :( cancel last. I usually never use my wifi that's why I thought it was 3G.

Can you believe that's what my job's speeds are... my iPhone 4 gets slightly higher than that.

What app gives those results? I'm using the Speedtest.net app.

4g is in its infancies still as well and definitely has a lot to offer, considering your speeds are above average, especially from the users here in the States. As usual, I think its all relative to your location and signal strength. Either way choice is good for the consumer as it drives competition which the consumer can only benefit from.

Some individuals are pulling 10-12 Mbps with 4g

Someone help a dummy. Yesterday I was testing MyWi using my iPhone 4 as router and Mac. 3G speed was 100-250kbps. Comcast through a linksys wireless with Mac was 300-450kbps.

Shouldn't both be much higher? I'm in Nashville not that it should matter.
