iOS 4.1 Beta just released

I tried this beta on my 3g and it didn't run any faster for me than 4.0.1, so I reverted back to 4.0.1

i sure hope so. so far 4.0 & 4.0.1 have been a complete joke on the 3G

if 4.1 does not correct the performance issues on the 3G then i will be forced to go back to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3

I want GameCenter! Plus, was anything done to decrease the sensitivity of the proximity sensor? I can't wait till this version is released, regardless. How long does it usually take from first beta to general release with Apple? Just curious!

First beta to final? 6-8 weeks on average. No fix for the proximity sensor yet.

Why would it correct the performance issues? Each release is going to introduce some new features, and of course bug fixes. Apple isn't known to increase the speed of their OS dramatically with new versions. That facts are simple. 4.x is the last version any 3G will be getting and it's time to upgrade. Try a fresh restore to see if it alleviates the performance issues. If not, well, you only have one viable choice.


The fact that Apple still supports that model says a lot about them. Find me another top phone manufacturer who supports their older models from a couple of years ago that can run the latest OS version, albeit a limited one.

Or you could just sell your 2 year old tech, for nice money. And upgrade to a 3GS or iP4. I mean I sold my old 3G for 199 on eBay, it paid for my entire iP4
