So I just bought a MacBook and am trying to use my iPhone with it and of course, can't. And from what I am reading the only solution is to do a back up, and restore, and then sync it up again on the Mac. Any other easier way?

You should be able to use the migration assistant on your Mac to get info off your old washed up PC. If not try copying your itunes on to a cd and then Installing it on your Mac. Then iTunes should recognize your iPhone. But before you try any of this. Use the keywords I have given you to do a search on the subject to learn more

Here's what I did when switching to my iMac. First set up iTunes home sharing. Copy all you content from your old computer over. Next plug in your iPhone. Now I can't remember if I had to restore, but if your whole iTunes library is there the only thing you lose is a little time.
