my iphone has a black screen

i recently got an iphone 3g from a nieghbor, who purchased it from the store. When i received it, i worked fine. Then i attached it to my itunes and now it says i don't have a sim card when i have one in it. I tried to restore the firmware to try to hack it, and was waiting for it to finish downloading onto my computer ( Not downloading it on my iphone), and when it was done my iphone was turned off, i can't turn it back on i think that the power button might be broken. Now its just a black screen, and i can't turn it back on. any suggestions?

Perhaps the battery is dead?
Try plugging it in for a good amount of time.

Also, try holding down the power button and the home button at the same time.

This happened to me a while back. Search the forum or google for DFU mode. This will get you headed in the right direction.

DFU mode:

While plugged in to your computer and iTunes open, hold down the power button for 3-seconds...then while keeping the power button held down, hold the home button down as well for 10-seconds.
Then let go of the power button ONLY while keeping the home button down for another 20-30 seconds.
