unable to car charge

Sounds like an iOS4 incompatibility, although I've never experienced this before with any of the OS upgrades in the past. Usually it's the hardware (a new phone), not software, that's responsible for accessories not working.
The only way to confirm this is if you have access to another iPhone/iPod with 3.1.3 or lower and see if your charger(s) work with it.

Thx. I'll try it in a different car too.

I have the same problem my car charger worked great with my 3G and now with my iphone4 it tells me it is an incompatible device and don't remember if my cable was an iphone cable or if it was a ipod cable.
I am just gonna break down and buy a car charger for the iphone4

i have a usb cig lighter plug-in adapter and i just plug my iPhone cable into that and it charges fine and it was WAY cheaper then a car charger!

If all else fails, check the accessory fuse in the car.

Old chargers still work for me after iOS 4.

works for me too... sounds like a fuse

I don't think it works on the i4. I tried this the other
day in my car. My boy bought his charger (AT&T
branded that works well for the iPhone) and when I
tried it, it didn't even show me a incompatible message.
It just didn't work. When my boy immediately put his
phone in the charger, it worked. I tried mine once
again and it didn't work.

I too cannot charge, however I can listen to the iP4 through the FM transmitter, just no juice!

I checked yest and for me it was a fuse prob that just happened to coincide with the update. Weird....
