    How come no matter where i look nobody seems to be curious enough to ask why the white iPhone 4 has a weird thing on top of the speaker receiver and the black one doesn't?

    Thank you for ur patience (since i havent heard anybody answer this). But why doesnt the black iphone 4 show it.? why does it stand out soooo much on the white version.

    Because the sensors are black.
    You can't see/notice it on the black phone because of this.

    Just like the cameras on the front and back of the white one are a lot more noticeable than on the black iPhone.

    Its for the ambient light sensor.
    It's actually the proximity sensor. A guy showed it in the demo.
