Last week I downloaded the iOS4 GM (iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw). I created a custom firmware and installed it -- everything is working fine.

Today, I decided to download iOS4 (iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw) via iTunes. I compared the hash values between the two, and they are different... I checked the settings tab on my 3GS and it reports that I'm running 8A293.

    GM MD5 hash value: 7d06751c5a67140748ce80ea1b00c887
    Today's hash value: f9819ad9a52324ac6f10e4a0ea581cbd

So it seems one of two things happened.

    1) I downloaded a slightly fake iOS4 that was hacked to display the 8A293 version

    or

    2) Apple changed something between the supposed GM and what they released today.

Just wanted to give people a heads up. I'm gonna wait until the dev team releases some new tools, then create a new custom firmware and restore.... just in case.

    Matt

(posted this here since it potentially effects both JB and non-JB devices)

There has to be a change. My Battery Doctor Pro works fine on my daughters iPod Touch updated to 4.0 from 3.1.3., but crashes on my 3GS and 3G, both with GM installed.

Need someone to upload today's release so I can test my theory.

Also, my GM version won't connect to my truck stereo BT, only telephone.

    Same deal. I had installed:

    396162364 Jun 8 13:10 iPhone2_1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw
    MD5 (iPhone2_1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw) = 7d06751c5a67140748ce80ea1b00c887

    But now iTunes grabs:

    396281280 Jun 21 12:03 iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw
    MD5 (iPhone2,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw) = f9819ad9a52324ac6f10e4a0ea581cbd

    So something changed somewhere!

Question, is Game Center installed on your phone? It was an icon installed on the WWDC gold master candidate, but I am not sure if it made it into today's release.

Game Center is gone from the public release.

However, it's worth noting that developers can still download and use it, although it's not currently available for the iPhone 4. They've only posted 3G and 3GS builds so far. Apple plans to make Game Center available for regular consumers later this year.

My now "old" 3G has the GM JB with full features and there are issues with it. I can't get any books to show up on it and it runs games REALLY slow. I'm trying to figure out what OS to put on it to sell it the easiest!
