My white bumper should be coming Thursday.07-11-2010 12:02 AMLike 0 -
- Do not put your phone in your pocket with keys and stuff. That's just stupid. Any damage that would result is purely your own fault.
The bumper adds a nice style to the phone. It rounds out the edges nicely for a more comfortable feel in my hand. I can tell a lot of thought went into the design of this rubber band.07-11-2010 09:49 AMLike 0 -
Also, I absolutely hate Griffin products. I bought a case to protect the back of my 3G and all it did was scratch it all to hell. I won't make that same mistake again with my 4.07-11-2010 09:58 AMLike 0 - I have a green and a black one. They look good and protect enough- my friend dropped mine and nothing happened to my phone or bumper-not even a scuff.
Also someone mentioned they don't protect the back, but they do. They offer a nice "lay on the table" design which prevents it from being scuffed up on the back.07-11-2010 01:52 PMLike 0 -
Things like this happen and of course it would be your own fault that goes without saying. But the bumper by itself is a disaster just waiting to happen in my life, everyone is different. I do not want to have to think about this, I want to live my life and have the iPhone be part of it, not the center of it. So if my keys end up in the same pocket it really not that big of a deal unless I don't have a screen protector on it then I am screwed.Last edited by OTACORB; 07-11-2010 at 04:02 PM.

- So go ahead, make your choices and continue to pay attention to the results of these choices. For me I have chosen to use the apple bumper as my sole means of protection of the iPhone. I know without a doubt that I will not be placing my phone in my pocket with anything that could harm it, because I "look before I leap". For those that don't, it is indeed a wise choice to pick a bomb proof case.*
Just like your son, you'd think he would without a doubt never leave that phone on his bed and you know what he probably won't, but then again he might, why? Because he is human!
You remind me of my sister, which I dearly love. Back last year when she got her 3GS, I was telling her about cases and screen protectors. She said I am not spending my money on that crap. She said I am very careful and I paid to much for this thing to be careless. Well low and behold about 6 months ago while pumping gas she received a call from her office. Instead of just waiting, she went ahead and answered the phone because she was expecting an urgent call. It was not her urgent call, so she got off the phone quickly, finished pumping her gas and drove off. About a mile down the road, she remember she had set her phone on the top of her car as she was putting the gas cap on. In just that one moment all that bragging about how she was always so careful with her phone went right out the door. Because in that moment her humanity came out and she acted like we do sometimes.
All that advice your parents gave you was good, same advice I got and the same advice I gave. None the less we all have to learn the lesson of hard knocks and so it is and so it will be....
Here is to hoping you don't ever forget and the bumper works out to be everything you hope it is, otherwise you just might learn another lesson of hard knocks. LOL I will go the extra step with a better case and screen protector because I can't count on myself being so programmed as to say I won't ever do it. Thanks for the discussion!Last edited by OTACORB; 07-12-2010 at 12:09 AM.
07-11-2010 10:14 PMLike 0 - Isn't there some type of warranty issue with the ivisasheild? I thought I had heard something about that. In any case I'll not be putting screen protectors on my phone. I tried them with the first gen iPhone and while they work, I did not like having my screen covered. Once I removed the screen protector it was like night and day. Fir me the screen looks much better naked.07-12-2010 09:49 AMLike 0

- I ordered one of the Naked Cases I have seen here on the forums. Side & back protection, already have a screen protector.07-12-2010 11:35 AMLike 0
- The only problem I have with those cases is there's no softer insulation between the case and the phone. From my experience, with cases like these, dust gets under them and scratches the hell out of the phone anyways. I had that problem with my 3GS and a snap on hard case made by Skull Candy. It tore up the chrome especially.07-12-2010 12:54 PMLike 0
- I got my bumper FREE at the Apple Store. Just talked to the store manager about the antenna issue and he seemed authorized to do it.
Anyway, is anyone hating having to remove the bumper to charge the darn thing? I have aftermarket chargers that won't plug in with the bumper on.07-12-2010 01:13 PMLike 0 - I received my bumper today. I'm pleased with it. It appears to offer basic protection. Not sure if it helps with the signal issue yet. Only downside I see is the price, $29 is a bit steep. I also agree that as a PR move, Apple should be giving these away with each iPhone purchase.07-12-2010 03:48 PMLike 0

A case wouldn't prevent a person leaving it on top of their car, but you miss the point. The point is no one is perfect and our human side will also dictate that we will do things that we say we won't ever do like you did and like my sister did.
Bottom line is everyone has to decide for themselves at what level they are willing to protect or take a chance on not protecting.07-12-2010 05:57 PMLike 0 - jhamilton3TiPb Fourm StaffStill awaiting my white bumper, but my girlfriend's pink one came in today.. She loves it but I'm not thrilled with how loose the corners feel and how much the phone still feels too thin.07-12-2010 06:29 PMLike 0

So your hope was to add some bulk? Maybe you should hold out for an Otterbox! LOL07-12-2010 11:02 PMLike 0
