Do you need a signature for pre-ordered Apple Product??

Like the title, i am curious to know if you would need a signature from the Shipping company [ie: Fedex or UPS] if you pre-ordered an Apple Product like the iPad WiFi + 3G OR an iPhone [like the new one coming this Summer]

So do you need a signature or do they leave it in your doorstep???

I would have thought it pretty obvious that any self-respecting shipping Company would not leave any item of reasonable value "just on your doorstep"!

I think most all Apple orders require a signature. I ordered a case and it required a signature.
