iPhone 3.0/4.0 question

I am considering buying the iphone. Does anyone know if the 3GS will be upgradeble to 4.0 OS, or will Apple release a brand new device for 4.0? Should I wait until the summer to buy or get the 3GS right now?

no one has an answer to this yet.

there is no way anyone outside Apple can be 100% sure a new model or iphone 4.0 will be released this summer.

only you can decide if you need a new phone now or if you're willing to wait and see what may come

Chances are that the 3GS will be upgradable to the next version of the firmware. If we look at the history of previous iPhones, the 2G was even upgradable to 3.0, so odds are the 3GS will be supported for at least another year.
