is there anyway to switch off 3g completely

No it won't. Not on my phone anyway! Why would Apple have incorporated a 3G on/off switch?

it still can't work,i switch off 3g on sbsettings but the same problem still occurs...

same thing with the silent switch. i forgot i changed my alarm settings and it went off during church haha. or maybe God was telling me to wake up =)

same as the first post just toggle off at settings,it does not disconnect on me, after jailbreaking i have used sbsettings though

when you turn 3g off your maps program will still work. it will use your edge connection or a wifi signal. it should not override your settings preference. will GPS still work over edge? now that is another question entirely.
