I own an iPhone 2G 16GB running on 3.1.2 OS.

I got an Apple Remote Control from the Apple store online.
On its specification explained that it works with iPhones Universal Dock.

I have my original iPhone Universal Dock whose it came with my brand new iPhone but the Apple Remote is not working when I use my iPhone on its Universal Dock.

Did the Apple, Inc. mean another Universal Dock which I have to obtain it?

Happy New Year

The Lord bless

Apple Universal Dock - Apple Store (HongKong) (I know it's hong kong, the US store has the same photos)

the universal dock has an input spot on front and is shaped for an early model ipod classic

I got the below item with my iphone 2g. notice the shape difference and speakers in the bottom

if not, it's not a universal dock. universal means it's sized for any product. apple includes adaptors with some products for use with a universal dock
