Problem with multiple album titles showing of the same album

Okay ever since iTunes 9 came out a couple of months ago or so, I've had
this really stupid problem.

I have about 5 different albums on my music list on iTunes that I have
created myself because they contain mixed songs that I like to keep organized
with albums. Here's the problem....

Since iTunes 9 whenever I sync my music I get the album showing multiple
times in the album list on my iPhone. For example, if I have 10 songs in the
album titled "Mixed Songs", then "Mixed Songs" shows 10 different times when
I access my music on the phone through the album list. Each of those 10
contain the same music. This is only happening on my albums that I've
created myself and has never been an issue until iTunes nine.

I access my music much easier through albums so I don't want to go through
all the re-organizing my music through another way. Does anyone else have
this problem and could maybe shed some light on how I can solve it?

Why not a playlist? This seems to be what you want and it takes less time. You don't have to change meta data of your songs

It's also one to many and you're stuck one to one with your albums

for your core problem, have you tried removing the music and resyncing?

I hav eht eSAME issue with my wife's 3G iPhone. It ONLY shows these XTRA Albums on the iPhone NOT in iTunes.She has 4 Albums with a total of 68 cuts ALL shoiwing 4 x's each. Only on iPhone since 9.0 iTunes Update.

No on iTunes it displays just fine.

The problem is if I make a playlist for those albums I gotta do it with all the others. I guess I can live with it but it's just annoying. I figured I wasn't the only one.

I has this problem on my 3g as well. It happened with albums that had different artists for each song within the same album. I just renamed all the artists the same name as the album in iTunes and resynced. That fixed it.

I can't believe I missed that! Thanks I'm going to do the same.

Ok here's what I did. I used sarcone's method. Not only did I rename
the artists to the same name, but I also cleared out other things such as
genre, album artists and things of that nature.

-In your music in iTunes, in the search box type "mixed songs" to get that
album you created

-All the songs will come out and you don't need to edit each one by one. Go
to "edit" at the top, select all, right click the highlight and go to "Get Info."
You'll get a prompt asking if you want the edit to be for every song and select yes.

-Keep the album title the same, rename the artist to one universal name for
all the songs in that album, and in the other fields, keep them blank and check
the empty boxes to the left of them. That will clear those fields.

Re-sync and there you go.
