Differences between 2g and 3g

Right up front, I am the NEW/OLD GUY, 53, so BE KIND AND GENTLE

What are the BIGGEST differences between 2g and 3g, I have the 2g and am already thinking about the 3g, OMG, I am ADDICTED already.

I have read in this forum that the 3.1 and 3.2? firmware further drains the battery for a lot of folks.

Speaking of battery, I read about a mophie battery pack that I take it you put the iphone in and I found some on ebay that you plug in at the bottom of your iphone where the USB attaches. Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences to share?

I can get my scratched/cracked screen on the 2g fixed/replaced for $145 total, is that a good price?

That told me everything I wanted to know about 2g vs 3g, I will stick with my current 2g.
