Dropped Calls due to Wifi

I'm still experiencing coma mode w/ iPhone 3G and 3.1.2 OS. I've narrowed the problem down to the phone switching from 3G/Edge to Wifi when woken up. But I also noticed another problem.

Every time I get an incoming call, the phone drops the call due to being woken up and trying to find a Wifi signal. I know the easy answer is to switch Wifi off but I shouldn't have to do that.

Has anybody else experienced this problem. If so, is there any way to fix it?

Have you tried restoring as a new phone?

Will I lose any of my notes, contacts, etc if I choose this option?

It depends on what you sync your contacts, notes, music, email accounts, calendar and such to. Whatever you sync from the "info" tab when you connect your iPhone to iTunes should sync back just fine.. Things that are only backed up ( text messages, app settings, etc ) will not be.
