Problems with upgrading to 3.1.2?

Last night, I turned my computer on, plugged in my IPhone, and upgraded it to the 3.1.2 firmware, and then went to bed. When I got up this morning, it said that the IPhone could not upgrade, and my IPhone screen had the pic. to hook it up to ITunes like when I first got it out of the IPhone box.

I need help.
Does anyone know what's going on?

i'd say try again. any chance your hard drive or PC shuts off after sitting idle for a few minutes? might check your power settings and try to upgrade again.

i had the same problem. The update crashes the iphone. I had to do a restore. Which removed everything from the phone! Had to basically start over from square one with the phone! pain in the neck!!

At the moment, I'm having problems with my iMac (power supply problem I think - it shuts down at odd times!).

For this reason, I haven't updated yet and, judging from reports, I'm glad I haven't.

you can restore from a backup after doing a recovery. Did it not do this?

i just had to restore it but it works fine after you restore it.
