5.1 carrier file problem

I downloaded the 5.1 carrier file about a week or before mms was released to everyone. After 5.1 i had mms but it didn't work till the next day. After installing it on my phone i still had the option to tether (from a previous hack that enabled tethering) now i have fully working mms as well as tethering but when i plug into itunes and hit update, it shows me i have a carrier file update. If i install that update will my tethering be gone? Also if i use tethering now will att charge me for it since tether should be right around the corner? Thank you for any help.

Well i just updated on itunes and i still have the tether option available.... what does this mean?

That happened to mean once when I downgraded my IPCC file. If you restore as new it will remove it

The mms update gave us the carrier 5.5 file. Tethering show as an option but not sure if it works.

OO my Tethering is not showing on 5.5.

The AT&T carrier update reads 5.5 on my phone. And when I go to message settings I see options for tethering.

5.5 carrier profile, MMS, and tethering on my device(iPhone 3G). All of it works.
