Apple Geniuses can't replace phone?

I ask one of the poeple that works at apple, and i asked them if they can replace my iPhone that has dust under the screen, and she said no they can't, they only have the power to open it up and clean it or something.

Is this true or the lady don't know what in the world she is talking about?

And i have a black 32gb 3G S so it is still under apple warranty.

I wouldn't have thought dust under the screen would be a warranty replacement thing to be honest, doesn't constitute a failure of hardware in any way.

My local Apple Store (Providence, RI, USA) replaced my 3GS for a single spec of dust under the glass. I was in and out of the store in about 15 minutes...

It depends on who you speak with. I've heard people say yes and some say no. Either way they will help you out though.
