iphone 2g 1.12(4.02.12_G) upgrade questions

Hi,I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge in this field.I am new here and found that this is the best forum for iphone support.I will receive a like new iphone 2g with 1.12 OS and 4.02.13_G FW in a week.I am doing research prior to avoid killing the phone.

I will be utilizing the T-mobile network and would prefer that wifi be my main source of connection to the internet.

1.How do I unlock/jailbreak my iphone 2g 1.12(4.02.13) when I receive it?

1.I heard that OS 2.2.1 and 3.0 have issues with connecting to wifi on unlocked t-mobile iphone 2g.I would prefer to update to OS 1.14 or 2.2?But what OS do you recommend for a t-mobile iphone 2g?(keep in mind I need my wifi to work)?

2.If you have an iphone 2g with tmobile,and your WiFi is working, what is your current OS and firmware?

I'd appreciate any thoughts and opinions on this matter.

I would just update to 3.0.1. And Do you have a MAC or PC so I can get jailbreak information?

thanks for putting out time to reply to my inquiry.But what if upgrading to the OS 3.0+
causes wifi failure.Ive heard the 3.0 can cause wifi to fail in the iphone 2g in particular.I have windows xp btw.

Can i just restore 1.1.2 to 1.1.4 on itunes 7.5 and use ziphone 3.0 to activate/JL/UL and then update to OS 3.0 when I am comfortable?Or is ziphone outdated and will brick my iphone 2g?

Well you might just wanna wait for 3.1 then. If there is anything wrong with your phone a restore will most likely fix it.

Thanks for the new files for the 3.0. if my wifi fails,can you assure me that you'll help me fix it.Upon doing some research,here are some reasons for the wifi to die after 3.0

1.Baseband nvram corruption,due to selecting restore. backup instead of selecting new phone in itunes.Security is enabled during restore.
2.Heat issues which causes hardware failure of the wifi chipset.
3.Bad batch of iphones.
