Sometimes, when I get dangerously low on battery, but need to keep the phone on to receive and make calls, I'd like to turn off all data connections (Edge, 3G, Wifi).

    How do I do this?

I think that turns off Wifi only. The 3G, Edge, GPRS is still on.

General>network let's you turn off 3G. You must have some cell network on in order to recieve calls... All of them aren't on either. Only the one that you are using. So if you're on 3G, Edge is off. If you turn off wifi, edge, Bluetooth and put email on fetch (and don't use your phone), then your battery life will be pretty good.

Put the phone in airplane mode or jailbreak it.

those are the only two ways to do that.

airplane mode will disable everything as data is consern you wont be able to receive calls but if you go to setting and turn off 3g and wifi you still be able to get calls and access data but it will be slow and it wont drain the battery life as much
