And here I change it about 10hrs later....I'll stick with this one for a while. If anyones needs any GlassOrb Icons they see on my one homescreen let me know. Theyre easy to install via SSH.
Mine is still pretty much default. I have moved some it the icons off to the second page and kept only the productivity apps on the first screen. Second screen is things like FB, news channels, and apps that I really don't use for work or need quick access to. Of course I've only had my3GS for about 5 days now so that could change.

Yes, you need to be jailbroken to change your background and do other nifty things you've seen posted in this thread.
To post a pic of your home screen you need to take a screenshot of it first. To do that, hold down the HOME button and then press the SLEEP button. The photo will be in your camera roll. The rest should be self explainatory.

I will say though, jailbreakign is real easy and quick too! Plus you can always reverse the jailbreak if you ever need to! I say go for it, if you still have 3.1.2 OS that is....

Can someone help me? I am new to JB and am having an issue. I have downloaded fakecarrier on my vzw iphone. I cannot get it to work. Where are the setting for it? Its like it does not exist on the phone. I see that it is a utility and maybe I don't know where to look for it. I have installed and uninstalled etc... It says it supports my phone. Any help? Thanks in advance
