using my old bluetooth mono headset - for calls + podcasts?

I cant seem to get audio out of my Motorola H700 mono headset.

I want that for - driving

And I like to use it for listening to podcasts (also while driving)

dont want to use a stereo headset (bluetooth or supplied earbuds)

Any tips?

Also the iPhone seems to lack the 'undiscoverable' options that my Blackberry had (make it discoverable for a short while to add a bluetooth device - then hop back to a secure non discoverable mode.)

Any thoughts on this appreciated!

UPDATE

OK I see it as an option when making a call - if I have paired it (have I ???)

So that seems OK

If I have it on will calls default through the Motorola?

Also how can I play the iPod part of the iPhone through the Motorola?

Or wont that work?

i paired my old headset with the new 3GS and it works just like it did with my 1st gen IPhone. when the headset is on it will default the calls to it. btw I am using the "Bang and Olufson earset II"

it will not work for anything but phone calls. although there were a couple of times when it got confused and put all sounds through to the earset. I didn't want that. too much of a batterry drain on the earset. if you want to play music or listen to podcasts you are going to have to buy one that will do that.

Bummer. I like to just listen with one ear piece.
But I have seen a dual use stereo Bluetooth headset where the 2nd earpiece is detachable.

I hope that will work for me.

Has anyone managed to listen to music with just ONE bluetooth earpiece on? (I know it works for phone calls - but I want it for podcasts.. I just need one ear for that..

I was all excited about a Plantronics 855 headset but read a lot of bad reviews...
