Downloading OS 3.0

When 3.0 is released next Wednesday, how do you download it? I imagine through your iTunes. I ask because my computer has been having some freezing issues (thanks Vista) and I don't want to risk downloading the new OS with my iPhone sync'd at the same time, perhaps causing damage. Any work arounds? Would an AT&T location download it for me?

Via iTunes... check for updates. Simple as that.

If iTunes is the only way, does it have to be my main iTunes computer or can it be one of my secondary computers?

It needs to be the computer with which you sync your iPhone to iTunes.

Alli is correct. If all you are doing is updating the OS, any computer with iTunes will work. However, if you are restoring or trying to change library information, it won't work. In that case, you will be asked to synchronize your media with the new library which may or may not have any material to sync!

Back your data up and go to an Apple store. They will upgrade for free.

Then they'll tell you to get a mac! Hehe.

In fact, have the upgrade at the store... as long as they don't restore without backing it up, you'll be good.
