i'll try to make this brief
i have an unlocked iPhone 2g that i use on t-mobile. i broke it
    i want a 16gb iPhone 3g

will this work: my cousin has a 2g iPhone. and AT&T. if she goes into the apple store and buys an iPhone 3g (for me) could anything get screwed up on her account in any way? as soon as she leaves i'm taking the 3g home, unlocking it, and using it on t-mobile, and she's taking her 2g iPhone back home with her. any problems here?

Most likely, the iPhone she buys will be running Firmware 2.2.1 and baseband 2.30.00, which is not unlocked yet.

yea i know..i know how to get the brand new one unlocked and get the right band and everything..i just wanted to know if anything would happen to her ACCOUNT if she went in and did the transaction for me. i don't want anything to get screwed up on her end

Depends on if she has to change her plan to get the phone. Ideally, nothing should happen as when she puts her SIM card back in her old iPhone it should be ok. Can't speak with absolute certainty however as I have never tried this.

When I bought my 3G in July they made me upgrade my no data plan to the $30 plan. I was able to keep my same voice plan I had, but had to upgrade the data in the Apple Store.

Why not just buy the phone yourself at full price?
