Super Slow email

I am new to the Iphone 3G so bear with me. I have set up my email (POP) using my Cox email account. I can send email and it eventually goes out but it takes FOREVER (at least 3-5 minutes) for the email to be sent. We do not have 3G in my area, I'm using Edge. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How long has it been this slow? Is this a text only email? If so have you tried removing the email account completely and then adding it back on? The only thing I can tell you for sure is it's not the phone. more than likely something wrong with your account.
