Shattered screen

My wife just dropped her iphone and the screen shattered.Although the phone still works great i would like to replace the screen.Is this possible ,to change out only the screen.The apple store said i had to replace the whole phone,"$200 *^&^*^$"

Don't bother! My girlfriend dropped her phone and broke the glass by the earpiece. I bought the glass screen replacement for $100 bucks. We then took the phone apart and go to the part where we just had the glass and the frame the glass was in. But then realized it would be a real pain in the ass to remove the glass from the frame. It's glued together pretty well. So we just put the phone back together.

All we accomplished was busting the LCD!! So now the phone looks even worse. We are going tomorrow to just buy a replacement. Just pissed I'm out the $100 on a screen I can't return or do anything with.
