I was just using my iPhone. A message popped on the screen while using an app that said, "Warning: Memory Low, you should restart your iPhone".

It looked like it was a pop up from the iPhone but I've never seen or heard about this before.

Has anyone else seen this? Also, I'm wondering just how much memory can be used for apps. I've been looking at that app, "Free Memory" in the app store that says something about only 60MB being used.

iStat (free) will give you terrific reports on memory (and other stuff).

We blogged about the memory way back when:

    iStat is now $1.99

I use SBSettings (jailbroken app) for basic iPhone system monitoring.
