May I ask this...
What is the little icon just to the left of the battery icon in the upper right hand corner of the home page??

Right now mine is the alarm icon. If you are in the ipod part it may be the play icon to let you know it is playing in the background.

If you have it on silent, it might ba a little bell with a line through it.
