I just bought an iPhone and I am hearing an echo when speaking on the phone. I can hear what I say in the distance with a delay. This problem does not occur all the time. Is this normal for an iPhone? It is extremely annoying and distracting. Should I exchange the phone?

Hmm weird. Never had that problem before.

    Could be the carrier?

Does it only happen to one contact or every call? Try resetting or restoring your phone?

This does happen to me occasionally when I call my dad. He's on Vonage and sometimes the connection isn't right and I get the echo.

Resetting your phone would be the best solution for this.

My friend has an iPhone and he reported that he heard the same type of an echo the other day when talking to someone else. I wonder if it is an AT&T network issue. It occurs randomly while talking to different people.

It's probably not your iPhone... and I'd also guess it's probably not your service.

I had this with Sprint on a Samsung phone, and still have it occasionally on my iPhone with AT&T when speaking with a certain person. It's most likely the other person's phone whom you're speaking with that's causing it.

However, it occurs when I speak to different people. It even occurred the other day when I was speaking to a Verizon Wireless Customer.

It happens to me every once and a while. Happened when I was on Sprint as well. I normally just call the person abck and the issue is fixed.

my fiance has the same problem, we figured out that if she turns her volume down from max, the echo disappears
