Just wondering what the ture difference is between 3G and the original iPhone. i haven't done much reasearch, but the both have the apps, the same device. so what makes the difference and if its a chip, why can't it just be exchange for a 3G chip?

It isn't like you can just plug the chip in and be done with it... You are forgetting about GPS as well.

The new iPhone 3G has an additional proximity sensor, whereas the original only had one. The form factor is also difference. The back panel is rounder and made of plastic. The iPhone 3G is a little thicker at the thickest point, but it is overall lighter. The battery life is improved.
