What's a good travel phone

I'm sure the owners here understand the allure of having an iPhone working in your designated GSM area, but I'll be traveling to Mexico, and would buy a SIM card there (as I've done in other countries). I think my 680 is too much, and just want something light and portable, for the occasional call. Naw, I'll stay away from (potentially) bricking my iPhone.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

hmm...

Motorola Motofone F3

Slim, slick, and good battery life, thanks to e-ink.

Good plain phone. If you need mostly voice, it's great.

$40 unlocked.

I'm traveling more and more...

I'm thinking about getting a Curve 8310. I can get a refurb through my normal personal AT&T account online for $0.00, I assume I can throw my iPhone SIM in and use it?

Also, I have access to a foundation account ($130ish new), but if I buy through this (there are no refurbs of this available), I'll be switched to a 4MB data plan? Anyone elucidate here if this is even worth it?

I'll get AT&T to unlock it eventually, as they have always with my Treos.

Thanks.
