Frozen iPhone 3GS(asking for a friend)

A friend recently came to me with their iPhone 3GS 8gb model and showed me that it was stuck on the Apple logo with the progress bar. I tried holding down home and power but the phone seems stuck on that screen. Any tips on what I should do?

So you can make it power off? I'd try putting it into DFU mode and reloading iOS onto it.

Needs to be restored, it appears it wasn't completely done and your friend probably unplugged it from iTunes in the middle of a restore or something. Should be fine after he let's it finish the process fully.
