Downgrade 3GS from 6 to 5.1?

I updates the 3GS to 6 and am not feeling it. I downloaded the 5.1 image and when doing the restore through itunes, I receive a firmware error. I know how to restore the stock image, but why am I getting a firmware error and how do I downgrade the firmware?

Well, it appears it's impossible to downgrade to 5.1 on a 3GS. I have tried and tried and keep getting the 3194 error through iTunes. I have edited the host file and all, and no luck. Anyone tried this as well and succeeded?
