Should I update 3GS?

I just got a 3GS from a buddy for my son to use with straight talk sim. The phone is still on 4.1. Should I update it to current 5.1.1 or leave it as is?

I might end up jailbreaking for the mms service, but not sure yet.

I don't see why not buddy. Getting a few extra features isn't always a bad thing.

I just wasn't sure if there were noted problem updating the 3GS to current os.

Updated my mom's iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1 and it works wonderfully. No problem. Seems that 5.1.1 is more stable than 5.1

I always update strait away when posable. I've NEVER had any problems with my 3GS

Of course you could update your 3GS iphone4.1 with 5.1.1 and it's really splendid idea to update your device. One of my friends updated her I Phone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1and it works wonderfully. No problem has occurred so far. Seems that 5.1.1 is more stable than 5.1.

You don't have to jailbreak to get mms. Google how to set up the apn settings using the tmobile sim swap method.
