baseband question

I'm considering losing my blackberry and wanted to try my partners iphone3gs since he plans to upgrade. I have successully jailbroken 4.3.3 and ran redsnow but my tmobile sim doesn't get signal. In my reading since my baseband is 05.16.02 it will not unlock the phone. Not certain what is the best fix- I'm obviously a newby but have read and tried till my eyes are crossed- any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are no really good options for unlocking that baseband...you would either have to load an iPad baseband via redsn0w or use a Gevey SIM, neither of which is ideal.

Hey men do this.. i also have that issue .. and i RESOLVED it.

Plug your iphone to your compter then run Redsnow, then check the following:
1.Install Cydia
2.Install ipad baseband.

Then after you install, run cydia from your iphone connected to wifi..

Search for "Ultra Snow" and install it..
Reboot then its done..

That what massie said lol but FYI once u go to iPad baseband u might loose gps and also it voids your warranty reason being it can't be undone you will not be able to restore in iTunes it will get stuck on apple logo till u load with a custom Ipsw
