iphone 3gs w/ 4.1 unlocked... My internet doesn't work

Hello there:

I just unlocked my iphone 3gs, and have it working on the prepaid t-mobile with 30 MB data; everything is working except the data. the APN is properly set and so on. Can anyone help?

Few things... 30mb of data wouldn't last me a week! Are you sure that is right?

Can you provide the APN settings you have set?

Do you have a little o, E or 3G next to the carrier name on the home screen?

Is this a new contract with T-Mobile or have you just moved it to a new phone?

as far as 30 MB it is right. I live in a university setting where wifi is available all the time. just need data for some emergency.

I have the little E (3G is disable)

This is a new account with T-mobile (using prepaid monthly service)

For APN try internet2.voicestream.com

You can never do beyond Edge with T-Mob and the iPhone.

epc.tmobile.com is a newer APN but try internet2.voicestream.com

voicestream worked for me where epc didn't. Beats me why.

not too sure about the US but in the UK T-Mobile and Orange just joined forces and for a while both networks were very poor. Maybe they are making changes globally?

thanks for your interest. I tried internet2.voicestream.com but it says I do not have a plan. I seems this is a different plan.

Any other thoughts?

try resetting network settings.

Settings > General >Reset > Reset Network Settings
