Iphone 3Gs sync issues

I have a 3gs and use the newest version of itunes. Each time I have synced my phone i get an error message that says BACKUP WAS CORRUPT OT NOT COMPATIABLE WITH IPHONE.

I have searched this forum for a solution but dont seem to find one. Can someone help?

One time you have activated the iPhone. You can choose to sync none.
