    help! i am not a techie.. but i just recently purchased an iphone 3g.. and when i connected to itunes i have only one option -- to restore... i dont think its a good idea coz it might cause my phone to die or anything...

    my itunes version is : 8.2.1 (6)
    my iphone 3GS software version is 3.0...

    what must i do? helpless here in shanghai

    Just do a restore it just clears everything off your iPhone.

    well that didnt work and now i cant use my iphone... it says sim card cannot be used with the iphone..

    now what do i have to do?

    Did you restore? And are your trying to use a T-Mobile sim?

    Well if you restored and your iPhone was unlocked your unlock was removed.

    What firmware are you running? You will have to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone.

    im not familiar with the tech definitions.. im not sure what firmware im running... i guess i have to back to the shop then.. or is there anyway i can do it by myself? but the sim card is not compatible to my iphone right now so i cant even access my phone

    Yes you can do it yourself. I need to no what firmware you are running so I can get you the downloads.
    Go to Setting>General>About>What version does it say?

    message on the itunes is "SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported."

    what to do now?

    Take your sim out and follow the directions I just posted here

    new settings or config:

    iphone 3GS version 3.0.1 (7A400)
    Modem Firmware : 04.26.08
