All my stuff.... How do I get it back?

I have an iPhone 3G that I happily synced with my PC notebook for years.
I changed notebooks to a new one, and downloaded iTunes.

I assumed my iPhone would sync just normally. Some newly downloaded podcasts put me over my limit and instead to thinking that was due to (1) my new notebook or (2) the newly downloaded podcasts, I let the Apple store ?restore? my phone erroneously thinking I would just download ?all my stuff? from iTunes.

?All my stuff? being, but not limited to:
My Contacts
My Notes
My Settings for eMail

This is not happening.
Is it something I am not doing or is this not possible no matter what.

Was it the first time you plugged the iPhone into the new notebook? If not you may have a backup file within iTunes that you can restore to. Or if you still have access to the old laptop you can restore to a backup on the laptop -- get all your settings/data back -- then properly transfer the iPhone to the new laptop.

I think there is a way to do that in settings

Do what? Restore settings/data? Nope. Restore contacts? Possibly, if the OP was using another service like Gmail or Yahoo for storing and syncing contacts he/she could just sign-in to that service and sync everything back.
