I have the option to buy an iPhone 3G but it seems I've heard it can't do simultaneous voice/data. Is that true? I know AT&T's commercial advertises that the iPhone does simultaneous voice/data but it seems I've heard that's only for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4. Is that true? I want to verify this before deciding on this purchase.

You CAN do Voice and Data at the sometime with an iPhone 3G with any GSM carrier. (ie. AT&T) I did it for over two years with my 3G.

You just can't do them both at the sometime on a CMDA Carrier (ie. VZ or Sprint)

What Brickman said - although since the 3G is not offered on any CDMA carriers (ie Verizon or Sprint), the answer would be an unqualified yes.
