Data roaming on the iPhone 3G

Recently I've been noticing a square with a hole in it in place of the 3G symbol or the Edge symbol when I'm on my phone. Bad Ash said that it has to do with data roaming. But what freaks me out is that my first gen iPhone never did this, and I'm in an area with great service.

Has anyone else noticed this symbol on their iPhone 3G?

yeah i've seen the box with the circle in the middle where teh E or teh 3G is located. I dont knwo what it means but i thought i would let you know that your not alone.

Let me clarify for ya, technically it's not Data Roaming, bad choice of words I used. It's technically the GRPS Network which is even slower than edge. Sorry if I confused you.

Oh ok. Thanks Bad Ash. I was worried that my phone was roaming all the time. Well if that's the case. Does anyone know which symbol symbolizes roaming/data roaming?
