Callers hear echo (of their own voice) whenever iphone speakerphone is engaged

Lots of complaints of this on various forums (including Apple).
Callers tell me they're hearing themselves nearly full volume (as loud as my voice!) when talking.
But when I'm not using speakerphone call quality is fine.
First thing I did was remove the case but no changes.
On 13.3.1 dev beta.

Well you are on Beta. So it's open to what can happen.

But only thing I have noticed in FaceTime will cause a echo on other end, but other than that no issue son phone calls. But I am not on Beta iOS

I sometimes hear myself when taking to my wife. But it's how she's holding her iPhone while I'm talking. Usually when she's lying down on the bed.

She's holding it wrong.

I can often hear my voice echo when I speak to friend who is using Hands Free in his car..

I have this problem too. If I use phone speaker people can’t understand me. HomePod, hands free car, AirPods gen1 are fine. Only phone speaker. Not a huge deal but it should work.
