It’s not a secret that the cameras on iPhone 11 & 11 Pros are some of the best , if not the best, on any smartphone. That’s been said , I wasn’t expecting the night mode to be THIS good !
Below are a few I took this evening .

Did anyone else expect night mode to be this good with the new iPhone 11 Pro?-img_1351.jpg

Awesome pics! I haven't taken any night or low light photos with my iPhone 11 Pro Max yet, but I will soon.

This if from my backyard last night. Near darkness with the exception from a porch light from the neighbor. Looking to the west at 8pm. 10 second handheld exposure.

How did you get 10 seconds? The most I’ve seen mine go to is 4 seconds.

It depends on how much light is available. It was pretty dark in my back yard. Also it depends on how shaky your hands are. If it’s moving around too much it will limit the time to help avoid motion blur. I could have done a 30 second exposure for this shot if I had my tripod set up.

I am honestly blown away with how good Night mode is. Using a tripod and a long exposure, i've got some great shots.

But I did break my tripod, so now I need a new one.

The low light photography on the new Pro models is nothing short of amazing. Honestly the main reason I upgraded this year.
By the way, welcome to the mod squad!

I asked the same question earlier. He told me the darker it is the longer it will default. So I put it on the tripod to take some moon and star shots and it defaulted to 40 seconds. I live in the mountains so it’s super dark out

It’s the movement that can trigger longer exposure on night mode so by putting it on tripod, the option for long exposure will become available. Holding the phone by hand, you can only go for 3 to 6 seconds depending on how steady your hand is.

Check your EXIF info on photos. I manually set 10 seconds (13.2 allows you to adjust it manually) and while it appeared to have the "shutter" open for 10 seconds, the EXIF shows 1 second and that would make sense because there was a moving subject (car) and it only appears to have moved a distance that would be equal to 1 second of capture time. Perhaps there is an upper limit to actual exposure and the rest of the captures are for data processing, et al. Seems to be getting interesting either way. Time for some tripod action.

I took this last night, no light as the moon was still low. I was amazed, I love it.

On another note, does anyone know if you can hook up an iPhone to a telescope, to take pictures?
